One by One

Ahh! Sophomore is almost over! I just had a hell day! It seemed like all the harder exams (except Psych101) was done today. I have been so overwhelmed by exams these past 3 days!

I can’t do anything about my economics class anymore, now that finals is over, except pray.

I’ve been telling myself these past few days to just take it slow and do things a little at a time, finishing projects and classes on at a time with the mantra “Tick Things Off Your Checklist, One by One”.

It was actually very helpful. It’s kind of weird hypnotizing myself to become a bit calmer. I’m relaxing a bit before the last stretch.

I’ve been getting myself addicted to Pet Society in Facebook. (I revived my Facebook due to peer pressure and sheer boredom) I’m hoping to make a porch/garden room, a living room, a kitchen/dining room, a bedroom, a tech room, a bathroom, a 2nd living room/library, a 2nd bedroom, and perhaps another bathroom. It’s quite hard considering my earnings to be about 1.5k per day, which won’t even cover the wallpaper I want. I needz more moolahz!

I’m less active in Plurk, although I try to plurk at least once or twice a day.

I’m also addicted to Vocaloids and am planning to make a vocaloid blog/mp3 and video database because I’m OC like that. XD If you’re interested in helping me, please check out Bel Canto Vocaloids.

I am getting interested in PVC figurines as well. I don’t have the money to immerse myself in the hobby, but they look really nice to collect don’t they. <3 Maybe a blogger can make a post like ‘Introduction to PVC figurine collecting’ or something. I’d really like that. :3

I’ve also been reading blogs, and design blogs/feeds as well. I’m really trying to improve my creativity although I haven’t had the time to put my ‘research’ into practice yet. Soon. Because of a school project. :)

“I love the design. They are simple, yet elegant – good for normal wear, and even when you want to dress up a bit. The sandals are VERY comfy and VERY durable. Usually shoes and sandals wear out easily because the straps break easily, or the soles get worn out; however, the designs of the Ipanema sandals were made in such a way that the straps reach all the way to the bottom of the shoe so you’re sure they won’t break, or will be pulled out easily. The soles are easy on the feet and don’t wear out because they’re made of plastic, and according to them, the sandals are made of recycled materials so production produces as little waste as they can. They even mentioned later on that they have a pond in the center, and the water from the pond is the same as the water they use in production – it gets recycled. It is that environment friendly! Amazing!”

Plurk

I just joined plurk. Gave in and joined the horde. Lol. I really didn’t want to join because it sorta felt like stalking… or that was the excuse I gave. I just realized I have this stupid arrogant elitist pride about wanting to be different from others all the time…
But after joining Twitter first… just to get a feel of the whole stalking-ish business… well… Twitter isn’t visually pleasing… In plurk… at least you have a visual of a timeline… plus it’s easier on the comments and such…

Sheep Speakers

The other day… I bought speakers shaped like sheep for only P350~ at V-Mall (Virra Mall), Greenhills with a 6 month warranty although I highly doubt that they’ll have another pair to replace these if they break. :) I love them~ They remind me of my good friend who’s now studying in Singapore.

I named them Strawberry Milk and Vanilla Milk. They work well enough. They don’t have volume control so it’s dependent on the computer. They’re USB speakers. They have a bit of a defect – a slight static but I’m too lazy to go to GH to have them exchanged and as I mentioned before… I don’t think they have another one to replace these.

Filipino Clichés and Whatnot~

Plugging because I love my teacher because he’s so cool like a high school boy. (Just kidding Sir!!!)

I’m not much of a funny bone person but I really like Sir Elbert Or’s books!!! It started with an email of Sir Elbert promoting his new book “Without Further Adieu”, which was a sequel to “The More the Manyer”. Since he had a small signing session at school and his books where less than a 100, I thought I should support him as his ex-English/Lit student and I even dragged Fee with me.

These books include a big list of phrases that twist English idioms into something… only a Filipino would end up saying.

We were laughing the whole time during the ride home because even if we actually don’t hear these “Words of Wisdumb” during our normal everyday lives, there were really funny. Actually… it’s not funny-funny… It’s nakakasabaw-funny if you know what I mean. I also liked how Sir Or interpreted the ’sayings’ in his own cutesy cartoony style.

I finished both books in a few minutes and they were a huge stress reliever. They don’t cost much, are cute looking, are nakakasabaw, and are funny! Super Sulit and worth it. :) Hold on… the means the same thing… Haha! Just remembering it is making me Sabaw already. XD

Here are some examples:

1. The More the Manyer (The More the Merrier)
2. Without Further Adieu (Without Further Ado)
3. Birds of the Same Feather, Are the Same Birds (Birds of the Same Feather Flock Together)
4. I Second the Emotion (I Second the Motion)

Jobless

My course is a bit demanding even if I’m “just in Fine Arts”. I once went to sit in the Juniors’ graphic design class (I’m a sophomore) and overheard the teacher asking for a client list with a minimum of 3. I assume clients means paying clients. Working students isn’t a new thing and I do know that some of the Juniors and Seniors take commissions such as photography and motion design.

I honestly think I’m not that talented… but I think I’m better than some of those other graphic designers out there and have a fighting chance at small jobs. I do want to work… it’s just that there isn’t any available for me. I’m usually busy at school, and I can’t get a hand-on job. I need an online job. :(

I almost got a job… not sure if I got it yet but I’m thinking the worst possible scenario. I’m desperate… but I’m not that desperate though. There are just a lot of things I want to buy… which are mostly wants… but to some extent… I’ve been eyeing these things for a long time.

1. New laptop – My laptop is still okay and I just bought 4GB RAM over the Christmas break as a gift to myself because I really needed it for the things I do. My laptop still isn’t enough though. I wish I could play games but my Macbook can’t handle the good ones. I want to sell this one and buy the newer aluminum Macbook.

2. A digital camera – I’ve been thinking about buying my own camera since forever. I’ve already decided to buy a good point-and-shoot instead of an dSLR because those are too expensive for me, and I’m not going into professional photography anyways. Plus, I still want it as a video camera for those random moments and I don’t want to buy a separate video camera.

3. A DSlite – Sometimes… In fact most of the time… It’s really a hassle to bring a laptop to school. You have your readings, your books, etc. Then you have your laptop. Of course you don’t want to be spending your break studying all the time and I find myself getting restless at school. Sometimes I draw… but I’m not really good at that either so it’s embarrassing because most of my blockmates are really good at it. I could read a book… but I’m not the type that can sit still for a long time at school. (At home, I’m more patient) I’m shy… and a bit of a loner… but I’m the type of loner who needs to be doing something.

4. Clothes + Shoes – I really need a new wardrobe. I want replace a lot of my clothes because they’re either something I don’t want to wear because they’re so out of style already, or they’re made for cooler weather and it’s starting to become hot already.

Anyways… in case someone nice enough to hire me miraculously finds me… Please visit my DeviantArt Account for my Portfolio.

Shelfari

Long time no blog! Anyways… a bit of an update on my blog. I have a Shelfari account! It’s so cool! I now have a list to keep track of the anime I watch, the manga I read, and now the books I have read! I didn’t put a lot though… like the Sweet Valley books I’ve read and such… It’s just too much of a hassle. But generally I really like the interface of Shelfari. It’s a bookshelf, and it can segregate your list into books I’m planning to read, books I’m reading, books I’ve read, and favourites, I own, and a wishlist. So it’s a good thing to keep track of what I’ve read as well as to see what other people have read so I have an idea on what I might want to read/buy next. I think I might put whatever review I come up with there as well. I’ll probably just copy and paste from here though.

So if you have a shelfari account, add me if I know you personally. http://shelfari.com/hirika
